Critically examine the principles and challenges of urban agricultural practices.
Learning Objectives
Students will:
- Critically and objectively explore current issues related to urban horticultural food production practices and evaluate the scale and feasibility of urban and peri-urban food growing methods.
- Understand the relevance of green roofs in North America, especially the process, from concept to project completion, food production and maintenance.
- Gain knowledge and expertise in disciplines related to Horticulture and Human Health, specifically in plant biology, food and medicinal crop production, human nutrition, and development and treatment of chronic disease.
